Nile Cruise - Luxor to Aswan - 5 Days

Embark the ship in Luxor.

Day 1: Luxor

Start the day at the Temple of Karnak built, over more than a thousand years, by generations of Pharaohs. Transfer to the luxurious Sun Boat III from midday onwards. Settle into your cabin before having lunch in the restaurant followed by a visit to the West Bank of Luxor to explore the Valley of the Kings. Visit at least one tomb in the Valley of the Queens and visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. On the way back to the river Nile, you will pass by the famed Colossi of Memnon. Tonight you will be greeted by your Boat Manager, who will introduce you to the crew and inform you about the programme for your forthcoming cruise over the next four days. Sample some complimentary Egyptian wine and local beer with a colourful selection of canapés, before you enjoy a delicious gourmet menu for dinner tonight.

Day 2: Temple of Hathor and Luxor Temple

Enjoy your buffet breakfast as the boat cruises northwards to Qena. You will have a morning visit to Ptolemaic Temple of Goddess Hathor in Denderah, complete with a massive stone roof, dark chambers, underground passages and towering columns inscribed with hieroglyphs. Return to the boat for lunch as she sails back to Luxor. Afternoon tea will be served on board followed by a guided tour of the East Bank of Luxor and to the magnificent Temple of Luxor dedicated to the God Amun. Dinner will be a Gourmet menu on board followed by a belly dancer, accompanied by a whirling dervish show.

Day 3: Edfu and Kom Ombo Temples

Your sightseeing programme begins with a morning visit to explore the extraordinary Temple of Horus. Enjoy lunch and afternoon tea on board Sun Boat III as she cruises to Edfu. You will also be able to enjoy an Egyptian cooking lesson on board. In the afternoon visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek. The temple stands at a bend in the Nile where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the riverbank. Tonight's dinner on board will be an "Egyptian Night" costume party for all guests, with a chance to dress up in traditional Egyptian "galabeyya". Dinner will be a lavish buffet of Egyptian specialities, followed by oriental music and dancing for everyone.

Day 4: Philea Temple and Felucca Sailing

Enjoy the breakfast buffet on board, while the ship cruises to Aswan. After a short motorboat ride you will reach the majestic Philea Temple on the Island of Agilika, followed by the unfinished Obelisk, Granite Quarries which still holds a huge unfinished obelisk. After lunch on board (weather permitting) you can take a ride on a felucca, a typical Egyptian sail boat, around Elephantine Island, Lord Kitchener's Botanical Gardens, and the Agha Khan Mausoleum. Day 5: Aswan

Enjoy your final breakfast on board before you disembark in Aswan. This marks the end of your cruise.
